5 Breakthrough Dental Marketing Secrets

March 11, 2008

Here’s an idea that will put money in your Dental Practice quickly!
Block out 4-8 hours a week to focus solely on “How Can I Make More Money?”

I’d be willing to bet if we look at how you spend your time, we can simply increase your income by 30%. All we’d have to do is have you focus on marketing an extra couple hours a week.

I think you need a minimum of 8 hours to do this, because the uninterrupted time allows you to build momentum and completion. There is nothing worse than having 8 things that you are doing, but not one of them are completed.
Just recently, one of my members asked me, “Ed, what do I think about when I spend my Money Making Time?”

Great question, here are a couple thoughts to go over:
1.       Where are most of my NET profits currently coming from?
2.       How can I expand that area of my practice?
3.       What percentages of my new patients are coming from referrals? How can I expand that?
a.        Welcome New Patient Packets
b.
A WOW Experience!  Ideas: Spa setting;  “Watch a movie” as we treat Anything to differentiate or create the “STORY”
c.        Referral Generating Letterd.        Thank You letterse.        Monthly Patient Newsletter
f.         Surprise Gifts: “I was just thinking of you”
g.        After care callsh.       Rose for every person who comes in as a patienti.         Coloring Book for the kids.
j.         Birthday cards or Birthday Video Emailsk.       Staff Incentives for stimulating referrals.
l.         Pediatrics –  Throw a Pizza Party. m.      Patient Appreciation Event– Wine Bar Event, Spa Day, Dinner with Guest Speakers

4.       What have we done lately to reactivate inactive patients? a.        Send out a postcard with some incentive for coming in nowb.        Send out at least 3 postcards or letters. One mailing just doesn’t do it!c.        Give a phone call
5.       What are you doing to get new patients from external marketing?a.        Radio- did you know that I have some members making an extra $100-440K/year using radio. It’s the most overlooked media out there.
b.        Free Standing Inserts: These are full page ads that sit as inserts in the local newspaper. These usually have a much better return on investment than regular ads.c.        Direct Mail To New Homeowners: One of the best sources of new patients is new homeowners, because you know that the majority fo them will be choosing a new dentist in the next 6-12 months. The key is mailing to them for at least 6 months.
d.        Targeted Direct Mail To Baby Boomers and Seniors: Do you want to do more implants, dentures, C & B, and cosmetic work, then you need to be mailing to these people. The reason is that your mailing can be actually pitiful, but will still work, because the average case value of these people is so high!
e.        Farming Your Neighborhood: Another way of using direct mail is to mail around your office with either postcards or 2 folds that use all the direct response principles.f.         Web Sites: In today’s selling environment, you must have a website. Our website:
www.dentistprofits.com is a good example of  Lead Generations site!
We’ve found that people are less likely to call your office to get information, but will go to the non-threatening website to do all their research! You must have a way for the prospect to ‘opt-in’ and a pop-up box offering some kind of free gift for entering their contact information.

It’s Proven that the majority of people who go to your site are not going to call instantly, that is why you need to have a
special offer to get them to give you thier name and email.

Dental Marketing 101! Get More New Patients…

March 11, 2008

Looking to make more money in your dental practice? You’ll laugh when I tell you that it’s as simple as getting your dental marketing machine and internet dental marketing machine up n’ running!

Did you set a goal to make 2008, the best year ever. Well, we are already almost 2 ½ months into the year and are you ‘on track’ or are you off track? Listen, everyone wants to make more money, but most don’t realize where they need to put their focus. For example, in my Dental Implant Marketing group, I was on a phone call with one of the members who has been in the club for 3 months now…and has run 1 ad, generated a whole 10 leads…schedule 3 patients and had 1 patient accept the treatment plan. If a colleague would ask him, “How’s your dental marketing working?” he might say, “It’s not.” Or say ‘not good’…when in reality his marketing is work just fine. He just needs to work the system. Tweak it as he goes…and most importantly should hire someone to place MORE ADS, start finding new ‘sources’….start placing articles in just about every imaginable media…both online and offline.

Imagine Having 10-30 Highly Qualified New Dental Patients Each & EVERY MONTH!

This actually wouldn’t be hard to do. It’s rather easy when you have someone put their attention on it. But, here’s why: imagine if he turned those 10 leads in over 3 months, into 100 a month, that would mean he’d get between 10-30 calls/month…and 5-10 would accept treatment. This would be from 10 GREAT highly qualified patients who have gone through the 2-step system.

The transaction size is VERY NICE here. It’s a size that would make me want to shove as many new leads and patients into my chair so me and my team could convert 50% or more of the patients who come in.

Will you deal with some unqualified patients? Sure. But my experience is that you can’t let the few who you don’t want to see control your choice for being successful. Who cares…that means you need to shift your message ‘slightly’…not give up on the entire thing. If you aren’t marketing…then I don’t really know what you are doing. It’s that simple. Marketing is the fundamental aspect that MUST be going on every month.

When things are going good….you need to still feed the funnel. When things are going bad…you need to focus on feeding the funnel EVEN MORE!

If you go to my website www.dentistprofits.com you’ll see that we are focusing on marketing ALL the time. We don’t stop marketing…and my best clients understand that dental marketing is the key to success in dentistry. Internet Dental Marketing is the key online!

Best,
Ed

Dental Marketing and Internet Dental Marketing

March 11, 2008

Hi!

Finally, I have my own Dental Marketing blog up where I’ll be sharing some of the best new secrets that we are encountering in the dental profession!

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll see that the dental profession is changing the way
it’s being marketed. Just 3 years ago, you might be getting 10-20% of your new patients
from online sources…if none at all…but now it’s coming to the point where you’ll
can used internet dental marketing to generate 50% of your patients if not more.

Good news…and bad news: the bad news about all of this is that newspapers, radio
advertisments and Cable Television are all declining in readership/viewship…but
increasing the amount they are charging for ad rates.

That is why I’m a BIG advocate for using Free Standing Inserts when doing any
Dental Advertising or Dental Marketing in newspapers or newsletters.

One other ‘hot tip’ is to go online and search for local associations where you can
advertise. Type in senior associations, affluent business associations, etc…be creative…and
you’ll find a LOT of good ideas.

Also, start using video in just about everything you are doing. If you go to www.dentistprofits.com or even go on Youtube and type in Ed O’Keefe….
you’ll see that I am aggressively using video to build more doors toward us.

You can do the same…and I’ll be talking about this much more coming soon.

The good news about all of this is that while you are actually reading this blog and thinking
about cosmetic dental marketing or internet dentist marketing…most Docs are clueless
and will continue to waste their money.

My suggestion is to get ‘in’ the game now…and learn as much as you can. Your income
as a Dentist is directly correlated to your ability to market and promote your dental practice.

Anyhow, that’s it for now!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
